Q. I recently upgraded to version 4. When I try to create
an overhead or display a song on the video projector, all that is
displayed is the title, author, and copyright information.
The new version of Worship Assistant allows for more complex formatting
of all outputs. In order to achieve this there are now two tabs
for lyrics in Song Manager - one labeled Lyrics/Chords and one labeled
Presentation. Overheads and video projection now take their lyrics
from the Presentation page.
After your data is converted to work with version 4 (which happens
automatically when open a dataset with version 4 for the first time),
you can globally copy the lyrics from the Lyrics/Chords page to
the new Presentation page by selecting File->Copy Lyrics from
the main menu. This will both copy the lyrics and leave the appropriate
markers/formatting in each window.
When you enter a new song, put all lyrics, guitar chords, presentation
markers, etc. in the Lyrics field on the Lyrics/Chords page. Once
entered, click on the Presentation tab and click the button on the
right hand side that says "Copy Lyrics". The lyrics, presentation
markers and any comment markers will then appear on the Presentation
page, and the lyrics, guitar chords and comments will remain in
the Lyrics/Chords page.
Q. How often is Worship Assistant updated? Is there
a charge for updates?
Maintenance updates of Worship Assistant (e.g. v2.12,
v2.13) are released regularly as problems with the program are reported
and fixed. These updates deal primarily with fixing bugs, although
we have been known to sneak in a new or improved feature. Minor
updates (e.g. v2.1, v2.2) contain new features and enhancements
to current features as well as any outstanding bug fixes. Maintenance
and minor updates are a free download.
Major updates (e.g. v2.0, v3.0) contain major improvements
to the program. There will be a small charge for these updates.
Please note that you can always receive the latest version on CD-ROM
for an additional $10 USD (plus shipping). Please see the
Order page for more information.
Q. How do I determine the version number of the program
I am running?
The version number is displayed on the splash screen (the screen
that is displayed when the program first runs) and on the About
window (displayed by selecting Help->About from
the main menu).
The version is displayed in the following format: major.minor.revision.build.
An example might be 4.2.0.3. In this case 4is
the major version, 2 is the minor
version, 0 is the revision, and
3 is the build number. You will
also see the version displayed and referred to in a more 'user-friendly'
format. This format is derived from the major, minor and revision
numbers. In this case the public version number is 4.20.
It is important to report the full version number
when contacting technical support.
Q. Do I need to register or purchase a separate
copy of Worship Assistant for each worship leader at my church who
uses the program?
No, one registered copy of the program can be legally
shared among up to three persons within a local congregation. Additional
users require the purchase of an additional copy of the software.
Q. Why doesn't Worship Assistant come with a
database of songs?
It would be a violation of copyright laws to include song lyrics
and chords with the program. You will need to type in the lyrics
and chords to those songs you are legally entitled to use. This
involves a bit more work up front, but once it's done, you won't
have to do it again.
Q. I am receiving the following error: DBISAM
Engine error #8961 Header information corrupt in table 'WA??????.dat'
Fortunately, this can usually be easily repaired. Simply select
File->Rebuild Data Files from the main menu. If this
doesn't clear up the problem up for you, please e-mail us at support@churchassist.com.
We are aware of one potential cause for this: On Windows 95, 98,
and Me systems, if you scroll through all or most of the guitar
chord forms in the Song Manager, you will eat up a significant amount
of Windows resources. These resources are recovered when you close
the Song Manager window, but you may have already reached a dangerous
place, and data file corruption can result. Until a more permanent
solution is in place, the workaround is to make sure you are not
running any other programs if you have a need to scroll through
this entire list.
